Villa Anassa (“anassa” meaning the intake of breath) – when guests first arrive at our home and upon entering, they almost inevitably take a sharp intake of breath in response to the ambiance & stunning uninterrupted views towards the Aegean and the Peloponnese beyond. Hence our naming our home Villa Anassa.

The house has been architecturally designed with a high regard to aesthetics, detail and finish. A home, built using traditional methods with solid stone walls measuring between 50 to 80 cm depth.

The roof is of wooden construction and tiled with salvaged  19th century ceramic roof tiles.

Outside walls have been plastered using the “pattito” method and are lime-washed every 4 years with natural ochre pigment resulting in a beautiful patina. The use of Baltic Limestone flag pavers, marble and “kalderimi” flooring, are all in keeping with traditional design elements. Set within landscaped gardens in a small vineyard, the principal double-story house comprises 207 m2 and offers comfortably large living areas.

All principal rooms enjoy spectacular sea views. On the ground floor an impressive hallway leads into a spacious barrel-vaulted lounge suite (or bedroom suite) in exposed local “almond stone”. a bathroom, and a very large kitchen/dining room also lead off the hall.

The kitchen has French doors leading to the large terrace with sea views. a further two French doors opening onto an enchanting enclosed walled courtyard. Quaint stone steps curving over the traditional wood-burning oven lead from the courtyard to a roof-terrace, again with sea views. Off the courtyard there is access to a separate single bedroom with bathroom en-suite.

From the entrance hall, stairs lead to the first-floor landing and into a large office, (or further reception or bedroom). flooded with natural light with views to the NE and SW coasts. Off the office, doors lead to a second larger roof-terrace and a Juliette balcony overlooking the approach.

The landing further leads to the principal bedroom-suite, which once more enjoys spectacular sea views. The bedroom has two “Juliette” balcony’s for breakfast or coffee, one facing toward the sea spectacular view with the second looking over agricultural fields and wild Mediterranean maquis stretching across to distant mountains. The bedroom leads to a walk-in dressing room and further on through to the main bathroom with shower, bath, w.c, bidet and double basins.
All first floor accommodation benefits from very high ceilings with traditional exposed wooden beams into the roof space.

The independent Byzantine chapel cottage (40m2 guest apartment) offers a comfortable lounging area, kitchen, bathroom and mezzanine bedroom. The cottage is set into beautiful gardens, enjoys a secluded and very private terrace with breathtaking views to the Aegean and Peloponnese beyond.

The orientation of the house and cottage are such that even on windy days, irrespective of the direction of the prevailing wind, there is always somewhere to enjoy outside living.
